The Corner House L'A-nnexe

Just a few blocks from the wine tram, restaurants, including my personal favourite protege, and bars, this cute little guest house is tucked off the main strip in franschoek. There are eight rooms, a lovely pool and complimentary breakfast. The rooms are on the smallish, sparse side, but clean and nice. You'll probably be out wine tasting anyway, right?

Everything was very clean, and the location was beautiful. We loved our stay, with delicious breakfasts and excellent service from an extremely kind staff.

UPDATE, RESPONSE TO OWNER: The dirt behind the door was still there, and no complimentary bottle of wine was offered. We didn't accept the refund for one night, since we had asked for a full refund so we could find somewhere else without extra cost. The dirty blinds and filthy grout aren't just due to the building's age, they show poor maintenance. The staff at the Corner House were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good, with tasty fruit, bread, cold cuts and croissants. We didn't try the hot dishes. We were very disappointed with our room. I asked staff to vacuum again and clean the wet area more thoroughly. They wiped up the water, but left the spot behind the door untouched, even though I'd pointed it out. The bathroom grout needs a thorough clean, and there are big cracks behind the door that have been neglected. The house has potential, but needs maintenance throughout. My aunt's room was good. We asked for a full refund so we could stay elsewhere. After we left, they offered a one-night refund, which we'd already declined because it wasn't what we wanted. Michaela assured me the room would be blocked for two days to fix the wall and fridge and give it a good clean.

We spent three nights here for a birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to help celebrate, arranging beautiful flowers and a spread of fresh fruit. It was more than perfect. Their service beats that of many five-star hotels I've stayed in, from the calm, friendly welcome to complimentary wine tasting and a great breakfast, just right before and after a day on the wine tram. The bed was huge with soft sheets, and the modern bathroom was super clean. There was air conditioning and a minibar. The main street is a five-minute walk away, and it felt safe walking back from town after sunset. Everything was just perfect, thank you so much!
