We liked using a pass code to get into our room, much easier than keeping track of keys. The place was beautifully furnished and equipped, airy, spotless, and well maintained. Staff were attentive and well trained. Breakfast by the pool was outstanding, with all you could want and cooked to order, far better than a buffet. The hot tub was truly hot, not just a warm bath, and took a while to get into. There were robes in the room for before and after. The breakfast area has mountain views, and parking is right outside. Best place we’ve stayed in Franshhoek in many years, and the best ever for us.

The convenient location made it easy to walk into town, and having parking and a swimming pool was a great bonus. Staff were extremely welcoming and helped us feel comfortable as soon as we arrived. Breakfast was good, with a nice range of options. We had a very pleasant, enjoyable stay.

The villa at the Lab was beautiful, well equipped, and had a great view of the surrounding mountains. Our host Dina and the rest of the team were lovely. We stayed one night on our trip through the winelands in South Africa, and had a great stay.

Our family of four and my younger brother in law stayed at the Lab for a night. The staff made us feel so welcome, and the kids had such a good time they begged to stay longer. Breakfast in the morning was hearty.

I stayed one night as a professional tour guide. At 2 p.m. the next day, while I was packing, two staff members shouted at me in front of my tourists and demanded that I leave right away. The manager, Dine, raised her voice too and said she would “report me to my boss.” It was humiliating and completely inappropriate. No guest should be treated like that, especially in front of clients. The behaviour was disrespectful and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend Lab Dogs, Franschhoek.
