Grootbos Nature Reserve

We went to Grootbos for three nights to celebrate our engagement, and every part of the stay felt special. The suite was spacious, luxurious, spotless, and comfortable, with lovely views over the fynbos. After days out, it was a great place to unwind. The guided walks, coastal drives, and other outings were safe and memorable, and helped us enjoy the natural beauty of the Western Cape. The team made us feel cared for from the moment we arrived. Bianca and Mandy helped make our engagement unforgettable: they arranged a surprise picnic proposal, contacted Wilke from Wild Tulip Photography to capture it, and gave us a framed photo on our last night. Each evening we came back to a little surprise in the room, like chocolates, petals, or a note. Bianca's warmth and thoughtfulness made us feel especially celebrated. Gareth was a fantastic guide. He knew so much about the reserve's plants, animals, and history, and was friendly and patient throughout. His stories made our walks and drives engaging, and every trail or dune we explored with him became an adventure. Florentina was also a great help before we arrived, answering all my emails and questions clearly, warmly, and efficiently. It gave us peace of mind to have the details sorted out. We loved the food too. Every meal was creative, fresh, and delicious, from hearty breakfasts to gourmet dinners. Local flavours and little surprises made each one memorable. The kitchen and dining staff were welcoming and made every meal a pleasure. Everyone we met, from reception to housekeeping, was kind and attentive. By the end we felt we'd made lifelong friends. Our engagement weekend at Grootbos was romantic and joyful, and we couldn't stop smiling. Thank you to Bianca, Mandy, Gareth, and the whole team. We'll remember the celebration for a long time and can't wait to return.
