It really feels like a home away from home. Breakfast is a highlight, especially the interesting conversations, and I love the lovely garden and the views of George Piek.

Old-world charm and contemporary South African style come together in this enchanting B&B. There are little touches like the creaking wooden floorboards and a Sherry Decanter Set in every room. The beds are luxuriously comfortable, and the homemade breakfast made it easy to forget about home once we stepped through the Dutch-style front door.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with lovely antique furniture, and the breakfast was divine. Madeleine made sure everyone got things the way they liked them. It’s an easy walk to a few places for supper, too. Madeleine and Johan made the whole stay feel like being at home.

We stayed in the “Skotskar room,” and it was enormous, with two beds, a sitting area, and a beautiful bathroom. The owners were so friendly and happy to chat while we enjoyed homemade fresh bread, delicious fruit, and the other tasty things on the menu. Die Waenhuis is a special place, full of pieces from another era. Take time to look closely at the furniture and all the details. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer to explore it all.
