Oubaai Hotel Golf & Spa

The breakfast buffet had a generous choice, from fruit and pastries to hot food and local specialties, so I started the day feeling energized. We only spent one night at Oubaai Golf Estate & Spa for a conference, but the venue left a strong impression. The room was spacious and had modern air conditioning, with windows looking out over beautiful views. After our session we rode around the estate in the complimentary golf cart, a fun way to see the property and clear our heads during breaks. The restaurant on site was handy after a full day of meetings. Passing through Oubaai's security gate, I immediately felt safe and could see why the conference venue felt special. Those views along the drive were stunning. It was a refreshing mix of professional facilities and comfortable luxury, even for a short stay.

Such a letdown. I called to book a 60-minute massage and asked Elsean whether the steam room and jacuzzi were working. She said they were. After my massage, I was told neither steam room nor the jacuzzi worked, and not even the shower was working. She kept saying there was a steam room, sir, but it wasn't working. I could have paid half that amount and still received better service.

Don't trust the photos, this wasn't worth it at all. We booked for a couple of days but checked out within hours because the rooms smelled of rotten wood. We asked them to change our room, but they refused, even though the hotel was over 80% empty.

The hotel is being upgraded, so a lot of it was closed, and it was hard to get to the Golf Club Restaurant. Our room could have used a bin. Apart from that, it was lovely, and we enjoyed both the hotel and the restaurant on site.
