The location and views are beautiful, and the rooms are spacious, well equipped, with comfortable beds and good quality linen and towels. What spoiled the stay for me was the staff. There was no manager on site, and the staff were young, inexperienced and not very friendly. They couldn’t answer basic questions about the area; they were foreign volunteers without hospitality experience. One staff member even clipped his toenails on the communal sofa and left the clippers and nail cuttings there. The fully stocked fridge behind the bar was switched off, so there were no cold drinks. I was told it draws too much power for the number of guests staying at the guest house.

The main area has awesome views, and there’s a large garden with outdoor seating. Drinks at the bar are reasonably priced. We stayed in a clean private room and had warm water all day. A few people in the dorms complained about having trouble with warm water at night. This is an awesome backpackers, just as advertised, with the usual backpackers vibe. It can get a bit loud downstairs at night with doors opening and closing, though that’s to be expected, and it’s super quiet after 12. My only reason for giving four stars is the wifi, which was down for all five days we were there. That’s not great when you’re travelling, especially for international visitors. Could the next reviewer confirm whether it’s back up? It matters a lot.

I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s always a must. Such beautiful accommodation, with options for all budgets, stunning views and facilities, and great staff to welcome you. It’s only 800m from the beautiful Victoria Bay Beach. My favourite place to visit on the Garden Route.

The common rooms are spacious and have a great view of Victoria bay. The rooms were very clean and the location is great. The only downside is no wifi because the connection is poor.
