The room was noisy because the walls between rooms are drywall, and they gave us just one small, old bath towel. There was no stove, hot plate, or cooking equipment, and the cutlery and crockery were sparse, without even a wine glass. Breakfast isn’t included, despite the website mentioning bed and breakfast, and the place is listed as self-catering. It also encourages direct bookings, though some booking agencies offer better prices. For me, it didn’t feel as luxurious as advertised, and the stay was disappointing.

The food was great, and the hosts were so hospitable, doing all they could to make the stay pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and the view is great too. I’ll definitely return next time I’m in East London.

We spent five lovely nights at Hoylake Inn. The room stayed clean throughout, thanks to the helpful cleaning staff. Manager Dylan was welcoming and friendly, and owner Laura was just as friendly. We’d be happy to stay there again.

The bedding wasn’t up to the standard I expected, and I could smell other people’s odor on the pillows. I’d requested a sea view, but a bush of trees blocked it, and I was charged for something I didn’t get. The lady wasn’t friendly when I was unhappy, which isn’t how a business should be run. This was my first and last time at a 3 star. I’d never stay here again, even a back room at a township would be better.

The manager and owner are friendly people, but the service needs to improve. Our shower was clogged, leaving water all over the bathroom floor, and it wasn’t fixed until the day before we left after a three-day stay. That’s dangerous, someone could slip and fall. Towels weren’t changed, there were no she bins, and there was no tea or cereal on the counter. The ironing room also gets crowded.
