Selborne Bed and Breakfast

The area felt safe, with a mall nearby, and I really enjoyed my stay. Marty was a lovely host and a great cook. The accommodation isn’t especially modern, but it’s clean and has what you need for a comfortable visit. Thank you Martie!

The photos make it look much better than it is. I stayed in the big room by the driveway, and the place felt old and dirty. The ceiling was awful, there was dirt around the plumbing pipes and in the bathroom dispensers, and the skirting beneath the kitchen sink was grimy. The bathroom towel hooks were broken, the dispensers didn’t work, and the TV was out of order. Late night arrivals meant car lights, noise, and guests talking in the driveway, so I couldn’t sleep. There was no blackout covering in front of the glass doors or windows. At R400 per guest per night, this place is overpriced, and better self-catering options are available.

Andrea was a big help with all our requests, and there were quite a few. She also shared useful ideas for places to visit. We felt at home as soon as we arrived, had a great stay, and will definitely return.

We arrived at Selborne at 21h30 after the accommodation we’d booked earlier let us down. Martie still went out of her way to help us at that inconvenient hour. The place has an old-world charm rather than a modern look, and it was pristine, sparkling clean, and very well cared for. I wish we could have stayed longer, or given it even more stars.
