The apartment at Rose and Ale’s Retro Room was exceptionally clean, private and tidy, and the kitchen was well stocked. My sister and I had a wonderful stay with Rose and Ale. It was bigger than we expected, though the bedrooms were a little small. The location was lovely, within walking distance of the beach, and we felt safe with the electric fencing and parking space. For the length of stay I had planned, and might choose next time, a washing machine would have been a great addition. They already provide drying racks and pins.

The garden was pet friendly and had nice high walls, and there were plenty of spare towels in the cupboards. The place was nicely decorated and clean. A heater would be a useful addition for cold nights. It was a great place to stay.

We had a great three-week stay in the Rose Cottage at Rose & Ale. It was very clean when we arrived, had everything we needed, and the staff were friendly and attentive. There’s a bright swimming pool, though we didn’t need it in winter, plus a small "braai" stand at the cottage. Gonubie beach is a short walk away, and Super Spar is close for shopping. Thanks to the owners of Rose & Ale for a lovely stay and introduction to East London.

It really feels like a home away from home: private, comfortable, neat and quite sophisticated. Management is accommodating, it’s always clean, and the Wi-Fi is good. The price is extremely reasonable too. Loved it!

Lynn gave my guests a suitable room, and when I needed to add another night at the last minute, she arranged for them to keep their rooms instead of moving. Great service, and the rooms were neat.
