The quiet privacy and close connection to the landscape are what stayed with me most at Mantis Hiddn. Its take on luxury feels grounded in the place, without any fuss, and the experience is more about being there than decorative touches. The accommodation is comfortable and thoughtfully laid out, with natural materials that suit the surroundings. Across the property, the design feels intentional and sits easily within the landscape. The team were attentive and personal, while still giving me room to switch off. Mantis Hiddn is a distinctive addition to Addo and a strong example of how the luxury safari experience in South Africa is changing. I’d recommend it to travellers looking for privacy, authenticity, and time in nature.

The suites are wonderfully peaceful, with mesmerising mountain views, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. I loved taking my time over fresh, nourishing meals, then sitting and watching the landscape. The food was simple and well balanced. The team made everything feel easy, with warmth and attention but plenty of space to unwind. Little moments made the stay memorable too, including an in-suite massage, a walk through the forest as the scenery changed, great birdlife, and a refreshing dip in the kolkol. A remarkable stay. I’d happily return.
