Al-Beit Lodge

Nandipha was an extraordinary host. Thank you, Nandipha, Dawood, and Precious, for the fabulous work, wonderful service, and awesome breakfast. Keep it up.

The lodge's rooms are nice and big, and the staff were very nice. We had a good stay, and it being fully halaal meant we didn't need to worry at breakfast. The breakfast was basic but nice. There was a lot of sand in the pool, though the kids still used it. We also wanted to braai, but there were no braai facilities. The two staff members there had to do everything. I don't know if that's always how it is, but I think they need more staff. Our room had damp walls. I'm sure many accommodation places are probably still recovering from covid, so we understand if maintenance isn't up to standard, but we hope it gets fixed.

After a long trip we were really exhausted, and the smell when we entered the house was very bad. The setup was neat and clean, and the staff were friendly. Our rooms were clean and spacious, but they also had a stench, and the bathroom drain was blocked. At night, the balcony light was quite bright, and the blackout curtains weren't thick. There were no rails for hanging towels. We were four sharing a room, but there were only two bath towels and two hand towels. There were just two coffee sachets and no milk. I heard from a few people that the breakfast was so good, and I believe there was another chef who was very accommodating, but ours was really sad. I wish I'd taken a picture, though it wasn't worth one. I also saw comments about the room light. This place has potential, but it isn't keeping to its standards. It's been under renovation for many years.

I was there during Ramadaan, and the staff made a huge effort to look after me. They even got up at 4am to serve breakfast before I began my fast. They were always friendly and warm. It was a really humbling experience.
