African Safari Lodge

The sunset cruise followed by a game drive was the highlight of our first day, and my son and I also enjoyed fishing against the beautiful scenery. It gave us some much-needed father-son time. My wife and I had time together too, enjoying the surroundings, nature, and good company. We were lucky enough to win a competition for a two-night stay at African Safari Lodge at the end of April. Lodge Manager Dean brought so much enthusiasm and professionalism to the experience, and we really enjoyed having him host us. Gift, the chef, welcomed us warmly, and his cooking was just as impressive. The food was excellent and the portions generous. Thanks for feeding us, Gift. If you want a break from the everyday rush, time in nature, good food and company, and a wonderful team looking after you, I can confidently recommend the lodge.

There's good fishing here, and it's a nice place to get away, but a few things mean we wouldn't recommend it to friends. Construction noise really disrupted my partner's massage, which was far from relaxing. We ordered some of the pricier pizzas for dinner, and they weren't up to standard. The rest of the pizzas we'd asked to take away disappeared after going back to the kitchen. We were also charged for canoe hire we hadn't used at checkout, though we spotted it and had the charge removed. For the price, I expected more.

The kids had a memorable time with guided fishing trips and safe, well-organized hunting outings. Both were exciting and educational, and it's unusual for children to get such an immersive nature experience. The lodge itself was well kept, with comfortable rooms and a nice mix of adventure and relaxation. The warm, helpful staff made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and went out of their way for us. African Lodge offers a level of service and warmth that we haven't found at many other places in the area. It deserves another star, especially compared with other establishments nearby. Families looking for unusual activities and attentive treatment will feel welcome here. We'll definitely be back.

The scenery is breathtaking, and the lodge has working safari boats and vehicles that let you get close to the surrounding wildlife. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff, making this weekend's stay at a real hidden gem unforgettable. For a peaceful escape surrounded by nature and backed by great service, this place is hard to beat.
