The restaurant was good, with lovely views, and Alet made us feel at home. She was friendly, professional and gave us amazing service. The reception team also had great recommendations for places to explore. Our chalet was spacious, clean and comfortable, and Mogodi Lodge was a fabulous place to stay. I'd happily return again and again. I didn't see what Morné was whining about, but I suppose there's always one.

The units were spacious and well equipped, and the staff were friendly. We had an amazing stay, and I'd book here again for another holiday. Thanks for making it such a great experience.

We got free entrance to the Graskop Gorge Lift Co. The reception staff were great about suggesting activities and places to eat. If the restaurant is closed, it's easy to find a meal elsewhere, and breakfast is served at The Lift Restaurant. A wonderful stay.

The location is one of the best things about the lodge. The food was very expensive, though, and tasteless at dinner. Breakfast at R165 was just an omelette, coffee and toast, or a small muesli with a little yoghurt and fruit. The double bed also seemed more like a three-quarter bed, it was so small.

We ended up leaving after one night of a planned two-night stay. The lodge refunded us for both nights, minus the lekkerslaap commission, and we found somewhere else for the evening. I won't recommend Mogodi Lodge. At check-in, the Wi-Fi was already out. We weren't too bothered at first, since we weren't there to spend all our time on our phones, but it was inconvenient. The next morning we were told that heavy rain and storms had taken out Wi-Fi coverage across Graskop. We understood that weather was beyond their control, and we didn't complain about the Wi-Fi. We had arrived before 7pm, though, and it was already down. The bigger problem came after we'd gone out to the big swing, which was amazing. When we returned, my wife and youngest went to use the pool. It was dirty and not working. My wife raised it at reception, where Quintis was defensive and unwilling to help. Later, Quintis said she had “moaned” about it. I told him we were paying for a service and expected one. I only asked where else we could swim. He said we'd have to pay, which I didn't mind, and then said we needed to be staying at the inn to use its pools. His proposed solution was to refund us and effectively make us leave. It was an unpleasant exchange. Ingrid later replied to my lekkerslaap review. She said the Wi-Fi outage began around 19:00, affected the whole town and was outside the lodge's control. She also said the pool pump likely failed in the storm, leaving flying termites at the bottom of otherwise crystal-clear water, though she said it was still possible to swim. According to her, parts weren't available locally, so fixing it required travel of over 100 km; the pool was working again the next day. She described the problems as impossible to fix immediately, said we expected instant solutions and couldn't understand that they weren't possible, and said the lodge refunded the entire stay, including the night we'd used, in good faith to avoid further conflict. She also called my review misleading and said we wanted to stay while demanding instant fixes. I could understand the pool issue too, but the owner's rude, defensive manner was the main reason for my low rating. Quintis could have handled the conversation without being condescending. We weren't from the area and just wanted somewhere to swim. As three girls who didn't want to use a pool with bugs in it, we found the comment that there were termites “not to the extent that you could not swim” troubling. Ingrid's claim about what became clear during the discussions is misleading, since she wasn't part of that conversation.
