The pub and restaurant made a great place to unwind after the drive, with good company (thanks Dave) and excellent pizza. We’ve stayed twice and enjoyed both visits. The rooms have period furniture and thoughtful touches, including bedside lamps made from coffee bottles. A lovely dose of old world Karoo charm, and an easy stop between Pretoria and Cape Town. We’ll be back.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and parking felt very safe. The location is good, but my room was dated and the bathroom basin was dirty. I also had to kill a few bugs, including finding a large dead one on the bathroom floor. The door didn’t shut properly: I could see light from the adjacent room, and the bent latch could be pulled open even when locked. As a solo traveller, I found that scary, especially since the other rooms have access to my door. Only some bar food items were available, and the chops people rave about weren’t on offer. There was no Wi-Fi, despite Google listing free Wi-Fi. The owner had three hours between my booking and arrival to check the room, but it clearly hadn’t been properly checked.

After a long, hot drive, we were grateful for a cool room with high ceilings and a lovely hot shower. Dave and Heather were warm hosts and even went out of their way to help us with our cooler box. They also supplied a fan and effective mosquito repellent, so we slept peacefully. I’d happily stop here again.

A clean, pleasant room and friendly small town atmosphere made this a perfect break between Cape Town and JHB.

The pizza at the bar was fantastic, and the owners were lovely and really helpful. Our spacious room had a wardrobe and coffee station, plus warm blankets and an electric blanket for chilly Karoo nights. The shower was fantastic too.
