The Ostrich Manor

The buildings and gardens are beautiful, but the place needs maintenance and a proper clean. There was dog poop in the garden outside our room, the pool was green, and the dirt road was nearly impossible to drive on, especially at night. Holes in the fences also made us feel a little unsafe. The advertised activities and nature reserve weren’t there. We only saw sad-looking ostriches, with no water. The owners are friendly, but they and their child spent the day around guests who seemed to want some quiet and privacy, and it didn’t work. The place just didn’t work out for us.

Yvette and her husband treated us like we were the only guests there. When I mentioned the mosquitoes, they brought us a plug-in insect repellent, which made us more comfortable. Yvette, Paul is an amazing manager, and you wouldn’t guess he was on his own for a few days. My husband and I had a wonderful honeymoon at The Ostrich Manor. The suite was beautiful, and having no TV gave us a chance to connect and enjoy nature. Thank you all, this place is amazing.

The Ostrich Manor family made me feel welcome and looked after everything I needed. It was peaceful and beautiful, and somehow felt like home even though I was far from mine. Such a lovely experience. I’ll definitely be back.

It’s peaceful here and the hosts are pleasant, but I don’t think the rates are worth it for an avid traveller. There are no braais allowed and no fridges in the rooms. The paint is in poor shape, and the tennis court and sauna don’t work. The tents share bathroom facilities and have no mosquito protection. There are no lights along the dirt road in and out.
