The Venue - Hartswater

The property has friendly dogs of all sizes. I’m not very comfortable around dogs, so I was a little concerned, but everything turned out fine. I spent one night in room 4, which was spacious and clean. Its appearance was a bit misleading at first, but I liked the layout, the attention to detail, and the quality of the bed and linen.

The food had to be dished up and left in my room by 19h00 at the latest. When I arrived, the main meal was covered, but the salad and dessert were left uncovered with fruit flies all over them. To make it worse, the microwave is outside, so you have to go into the cold to heat your food, then eat chips that have already been warmed.

The toasted chicken and Milky Bar Cake are excellent, and it’s a beautiful setting. But the coffee shop’s machine hasn’t worked since we arrived in October 2023. The spa hair salon only opens on weekday mornings, and getting an appointment at the spa is nearly impossible. Their phone has also been out of order, with sound coming through one way, since we arrived.

We’re stopping overnight on the way home from Botswana, and everything’s been just right. The grounds are beautiful, the room is lovely, and the coffee shop is very good. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend The Venue.
