I wanted to enjoy this hotel, but the service and room condition really let it down. The buffet had limited choice, though the food was hot, filling, and reasonably tasty. The bar ran out of Coke Zero on my first evening and again the next night, despite staff saying it would be restocked. I raised it and was told there was no excuse. When I asked for a manager, the person who came seemed unprepared, and a promised follow-up from a senior manager never came. My first room smelled musty and looked tired from heavy use. The air conditioning didn’t work, the razor socket was dead, and my key card stopped working after I left and returned. Reception said an engineer would look into it. They later moved me, but nobody helped with my luggage. The new room had working air conditioning, but its razor socket was still broken, it wasn’t very clean, and it had the same stale smell. The hotel’s location and facilities have potential, but the poor upkeep and customer service left a bad impression.

The room wasn’t ready when we checked in, so we waited another 30 minutes. When we finally got in, it was mouldy, dirty, and nowhere near the standard I expected from a Southern Sun hotel. The advertised satellite TV was basically just MTV, with no kids’ channels for my children. A staff member came to check it, flipped through the channels three times, and said he’d ask his supervisor and get back to us. He never did. The curtains were dirty, there was mould on the walls, corners, and in the bathroom, and the bathroom cabinet was falling apart. It definitely wasn’t worth the money.

The rooms were spacious, tidy, and well looked after, and the peaceful, beautiful setting made for a relaxing break. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The whole team clearly takes pride in their work, and the service was wonderful throughout. We had a fantastic stay at Hazyview Sun and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend! 🌺

What a dump! The rooms were damp and smelled mouldy. The food was great on the first night, probably because German tourists were sharing the meal, but the next two nights were rubbish. Breakfast was a disgrace: we went in as soon as the doors opened at 6.30am, and everything was cold. The pool and being so close to Kruger are the only things that save this place.
