38 on Westcliff

We were lucky to stay just one night. The place felt unsafe, with lights missing, mold on several curtains and every drain clogged. The house was poorly serviced, and communication with the host was slow and inaccurate. The interior was hideous and the stay unpleasant. I’d warn anyone thinking of booking it.

The location was beautiful, but the home’s upkeep was sadly poor for what we paid. Some showers were blocked, bathroom doors wouldn’t close, and there weren’t enough bath sheets in each room, with some of them stained. There were no bins in the rooms either. The pool was dirty and had algae. The board games were missing pieces, the coffee machine was broken, and the only working toaster for our group of 11 was very slow. Maintenance really let the place down, and I don’t think we’ll return.

On our last day, while there was load shedding, someone broke into the house, apparently through the back or sliding door, and stole my new iPhone 12. I’m grateful my children were safe, but the phone had only been bought a month earlier at @iStore. I opened a case at the police station, but it didn’t help. The police told my husband that the beach houses there aren’t safe, especially at the back of the yard. There wasn’t a single camera outside. I told the person managing the place, but he couldn’t do anything and just told us to open a case.

The view of the sea is incredible, and the boardwalk is just across the path. It’s a really beautiful, tidy guesthouse with a lovely interior and everything you need. I highly recommend it.
