The cute white dog was the best thing about this property. The place is old and neglected, and it’s not worth the money. There was no bathroom light in the lower unit, the bed frame was made from pallets, and the bedding and linen felt fit for camping. The pictures on the various sites don’t show how it really looks. The owner needs to upgrade every unit. Keep swiping and choose somewhere else.

The garden is pretty, but it’s unkempt, and the staircase is dark and very narrow. Inside, curtains are hung badly, there are holes in the walls, and the place needs painting. The kitchenette has no sink, so we had to wash dishes in the bathroom basin, which is broken and doesn’t drain. It’s rundown and needs some care. It could be stunning if looked after, but it isn’t worth the asking price.

The host was gracious, but our downstairs unit was down a plank alley at the back that smelled bad. The garden was a mess, and one part of the bedroom floor looked ready to give way.

We had a great time and the host was really friendly. Hermanus gets load shedding pretty often, which was a pity, but the Wi-Fi was excellent for remote work, Netflix or whatever you need.

This older house has a really lovely loft apartment with beautiful wooden features. There’s loads of potential here, but it needs so much attention and cleaning up.
