A fabulous host and a large, lovely room with a big balcony. There’s an honesty bar, a swimming pool and even a grand piano. Would highly recommend!

We came down from KZN with our installation team and stayed with José and Ton @ 58th on 5th for three nights while working on an installation in Voëlklip. José arranged everything so we were all comfortable. Each of us had a separate kitchen and lounge area, which made it easy to keep our usual routine while working. It really felt like a home away from home, with everything we needed for the week.

The house has such a strong sense of Hermanus, with its artists and ocean, and it’s full of artwork, sculptures and carefully chosen furniture. Every corner feels thoughtfully put together. My room had a wood-burning fireplace lit each evening, and the bathroom heater came on automatically with motion sensors. That was especially welcome on chilly winter mornings. The bed was huge and cozy, the shower always hot, and everything spotless. I stayed at 78 and 5 Guesthouse in June and July, the cold part of South African winter, and found it a lovely place for whale season. The kitchen had all I needed, and breakfast was fresh, homemade and delicious, served with real warmth. I felt like a welcome guest, not a customer. If you appreciate comfort, beauty and hospitality, you’ll feel at home here. I’ll definitely come back.

Everything we needed was there, and the place was so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. The host made us feel very welcome. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer. We’ll be back xxx 😊
