Hermanus Lodge on the Green

The food was delicious, and they took care of every need. John was a great host and chef, and he and Moline worked together seamlessly. Even with all the wet, stormy weather, we had a wonderful stay. The room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. I'll definitely return.

John welcomed us and was very helpful. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, and we had a comfortable stay with a nice view. Parking was a bit tricky because there weren't enough bays for the number of cars. Our booking question was sorted out quickly, thanks.

The staff were friendly, professional, and excellent at their jobs. Breakfast and service were first rate. We'll definitely come back.

Our two nights at the lodge on the Green, during my wife's 70th birthday stay, were a nightmare. There were some good things: it was quiet, the service was friendly, and breakfast was plentiful and good. But the room was very run-down, with old, unappetizing carpets and a shower head around 50 years old that let out only very fine jets of water. The toilet leaked, and the whole bedroom had such a strong urine smell that we could hardly sleep. After we complained, they moved us to another room for the second night, and that room was perfectly fine. For the third night, we were sent back to the original room and told the damage had been fixed. It still smelled terrible. The toilet had a natural stone floor, no ceiling to properly separate it from the bedroom, and a sliding door that didn't close well, so the urine had seeped into the floor. In our view, the room isn't habitable in its current condition. The management still rented out the replacement room they had promised. We can only give a poor rating.
