We spent breakfast looking out over the ocean, and from the lounge sofa and dining table could watch dolphins and seals playing in the surf. If sunsets are your thing, the views are lovely too. The accommodation has excellent ocean and promenade views, right on the beachfront. It’s a short walk to the city centre, a small flea market and restaurants overlooking the water. Monica, the agent from LekkeSlaap, was excellent and attentive.

We were truly sorry to leave this holiday home. The ocean views from the balcony were enough on their own, and we even spotted whales on our first evening. The apartment was beautiful, with lovely quirky objet art throughout, and the location couldn’t have been better. When we felt a little cold, they quickly brought an electric fire and wood for the stove.
