Lake Glencairn

The kids loved fishing and playing in the river, and spent the day riding their bikes because it felt so safe. There are lots of outdoor activities, so they could just be kids. The staff were very friendly and the accommodation was really clean. Such an amazing place for a visit with children, or if you just want some peace and quiet.

Pinky at reception deserves a special mention for spectacular help and hospitality. The lodge is lovely, neat, modern, and very comfortable, with a peaceful setting and great activities, including horse riding, feeding the animals, and a relaxing ride on the lake. There are some flies in the apartments, as you’d expect with animals nearby, but it wasn’t really a problem and was easy to manage. I had a wonderful stay at Lake Glencairn in Underberg and would definitely recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

The family unit was spacious and very clean, with a comfortable bed and great blackout curtains. We loved the spectacular lake and mountain views, and saw lamas, zebras, camels, ostriches, sheep, horses, and cows. Pinky at Reception was incredibly welcoming and patient, and the horse-ride and boat cruise instructors were friendly and made the outings enjoyable. The only downside was network coverage at phase 2. It gets better in the main area. Overall, a pleasant stay in a great location and good value for money, highly recommended for a relaxing family retreat.

There was plenty for both kids and adults to do, and Elliott, the farm manager, gave us a tour and knew the farm inside out. The atmosphere was peaceful and serene, and the place was clean and comfortable. Staff welcomed us like royalty and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful stay and will be back. A padel court should be available soon. You have to visit to appreciate the tranquility and beauty for yourself.
