Amafu Forest Lodge

I found this place far too expensive for what it offers. The one-room cottage was dirty and run-down, the furniture smelled musty and had ants all over it, and the air conditioner kept cycling and smelled so bad I couldn't use it. I heard rodents scratching inside the walls all night, and nearby dogs barked through the night too. The mini fridge rumbled as if it might blow up, and the internet didn't work at all. The outdoor shower was rusty, just around the corner on a stained deck. There are much better places nearby for the price. It also felt like an absentee owner had underpaid local staff.

We ended up cutting our stay short because it was so disappointing. We could barely sleep with insects and rats making noise inside the walls, and I smelled urine on one bed, then found rat droppings on it the next morning. The kitchen had roaches, the doors wouldn't lock, and the key seemed purely decorative. There was no Wi-Fi either. We were told on the first day it was being fixed, but it never was. The unit was spacious and initially seemed promising for a peaceful visit. The pool was dirty when we arrived, though staff did clean it after we asked.

The mountain views were truly beautiful, and the spacious cottage was lovely. I especially enjoyed the bathtub. We’ll definitely come back, highly recommendable!
