Suidersee Block 2, Hartenbos

The linen was clean, but the place was filthy otherwise. I lifted the hallway carpet because it seemed like a tripping hazard and found sand and dust underneath. When I started sweeping, I found even more dirt, including old grime in the tile corners. The rooms felt cramped. I showed photos of the dirt when returning the keys and was told to send them, with no apology at all. I do not recommend this place.

Clean, affordable, and close to everything happening in Hartenbos. Suidersee is our regular place, and Zandri always makes an extra effort to make the stay a good one. I’ll keep coming back and would recommend it over any other accommodation in Hartenbos.

The house is lovely, quiet, and close to the beach and a small shopping centre with an entertainment area. It’s a nice place to get away from the city, and it works well for friends or family. Just be aware that the house rules are strict about noise, moving furniture, and leaving stains. Some instructions are in Afrikaans, so you may need Google Translate. There’s an ironing board but no iron, and no heater or gas heater, so on cold nights you’ll need to bundle up in bed. Towels, soap, and similar things aren’t provided either.

You can walk everywhere from this well placed apartment. It gets very hot inside, though, and a breeze means leaving both doors open, even though they don’t have security gates.
