Malilule Safaris

The lodge itself was lovely, and despite all the problems, we still had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. With proper management, it could be superb. The location is great, but my experience was awful, and management needs to be reviewed. No one contacted us to say the Wi-Fi was down, so we couldn’t even let anyone know we’d arrived safely. When we got there, the river had overflowed. The manager wanted us to 4x4 up the riverbank, but I chose to drive over the overflowing bridge. We hadn’t been told a 4x4 was needed to reach the property. It was raining, but some provision should have been made for guests. The room we’d booked and paid for was unavailable because it was leaking. We were offered another room without a view or deck, so I insisted on the one we had booked. The plunge pool on the deck was empty. We asked for it to be filled, but the water leaked out, so getting it refilled became a daily battle. The furniture looked neglected and in disrepair. I wish I could post photos. All of this might have been easier to overlook if management hadn’t been so rude and condescending.

The hosts at Malilule Safaris gave us a weekend that left us rested and recharged, ready to face everyday life again. After a stressful, anxiety-filled year, we’d come with high expectations and a real need to relax. The quiet, breathtaking surroundings quickly took our minds off the usual hustle and bustle, and the clean, comfortable rooms surpassed what we’d hoped for. We felt like family as soon as we arrived. The welcome was friendly and professional, and the hosts were helpful and chatty. The Chef prepared exquisite food, took our allergies into account with every dish, and catered to all our special needs. We went with friends and family for a fun weekend, and it became a memorable one. Thanks to everyone at Malilule Safaris for all the hard work that went into creating such a lovely place to unwind. We’ll definitely be back.

The rooms need attention and weren’t clean. Wi-Fi connectivity was very poor, and the shower drainage in every room needs urgent attention.

The room and deck layout overlooking the river was incredible, and we even watched a croc snatch prey swimming across it. Malilule is a gorgeous place to unwind, with great food and super friendly staff. Definitely a must-see!
