The rooms were excellent and the price was very good, so the stay was decent overall. But service was bad, and the floors felt like they hadn’t been swept for days. I’d suggest it if you’re on a really tight budget, though I wouldn’t come back myself.

The cabin was nothing like what we booked. We had reserved one with a King Size bed, bath and shower, microwave, and two plate oven/stovetop so we could cook for ourselves. Instead, it had two single beds, no bath or microwave, and a rusty two plate stove. It also didn’t look clean. The owner’s SON had said the two beds together would make a “double bed,” not a King Size. We asked to cancel and get a refund through LekkeSlaap, where we had booked, but still haven’t received any confirmation about one. Getting in was difficult too. We couldn’t find the place, so I called the contact number in my booking confirmation email. A lady said she wasn’t there and someone would open the gate, but we waited a very long time. My partner had a stomach bug and needed the restroom, so the delay made things worse. When I called again, Ryan said the lady I’d spoken to was busy in the mountains and couldn’t help, and that he’d come open the gate. Someone else, who I think was the owner, eventually opened it. We were first taken to the wrong cabin, then shown ours. When we said we wanted to cancel, Ryan rudely told us to leave if we weren’t going to stay. We asked him to open the gate, but he walked away, and we had to wait again. We booked at the last minute, and I know the beds not being ready may have been related to that. Still, after this first visit to Hoedspruit for my partner and me, the stay was deeply disappointing. The advertising was fake, and the service was very bad, especially coming from two people working in hospitality. I’d never felt the need to leave a bad review before, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

Quiet, clean, and a nice place. It’s also close to the shops and petrol station.

The cabins were tidy and neat, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely place to stay. I’ll definitely come again.
