The Last Word Kitara

Afternoons by the pool with a G&T were hard to beat. Buffalo, giraffes, elephants and other animals wandered past while we watched from the lodge beside the river. We also barely saw another vehicle on the game drives, which made the wilderness feel like our own little corner. It could take a while to find animals, but that wait made each sighting more exciting. We were there for our honeymoon, and the intimate lodge, with just six lodges, made it easy to get to know the staff and the other guests. Nathan was a joy to spend time with, full of knowledge and always good for a laugh. The kitchen team put so much care into the food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all exquisite, and I don't think we'll have meals like that again. Thoughtful touches kept appearing, from the bedtime story and sweet treat in our room to the smooth service. We didn't need to lift a finger. We knew from the moment we arrived that Last Word Kitara was special. It was the perfect start to our marriage, and we really didn't want to leave. We’ll cherish the stay and recommend it wholeheartedly.

My mom has physical handicaps. She can walk, but she's unsteady and often lacks confidence, so we were grateful for how thoughtfully the team looked after her. Connor brought a small ladder to help her get in and out of the safari truck, patiently answered her questions, and took her mannerisms in stride. He was knowledgeable and passionate, and explained things clearly even though he seemed to be working day and night. The kitchen also went above and beyond with her specific dietary preferences. I've never felt so well accommodated on a trip. We chose Last Word Kitara for its location and easy route from the airport. A hospitable driver met us there, and we saw animals on the way to the lodge. Once we met the staff, we knew we were in the right place. Everyone took time to get to know us and make sure our stay felt personal and high quality. The animals were wonderful, but the little personal touches from the staff made the trip magical. They felt like a family welcoming us into their home. They're building something special at Last Word Kitara, and we're so thankful we got to spend time there. Unforgettable. Thank you to everyone.

Connor and Patrick, our tracker, were incredible to watch as they worked together to follow the wildlife. Connor's passion for wildlife and the ecosystem was contagious, and he was skilled, knowledgeable, and calm when we were among the animals. We always felt safe with him. We laughed a lot on the drives and made memories we'll keep for a lifetime. Our room at Kitara was roomy and comfortable, with a lovely balcony overlooking the river. The meals were exquisite in taste and presentation. Chefs Moxe and Lucky took care with my gluten-free requirement, and I felt safe and reassured at every meal. From our arrival, the welcome was warm and we felt in good hands. Kitara is an intimate, personal experience, and I can't recommend it enough. Thank you to Susan and Pierre, Connor and Rejane, Matt, and all the Kitara team for looking after us and making our stay so memorable. Leaving was harder than we expected, but we already look forward to returning to this beautiful place.

Pierre really went above and beyond, helping us secure our plane with thornbushes to keep the hyenas away and taking us to the airstrip himself, both dropping us off and picking us up. The game drives were great fun, and sundowners were a highlight. We had an amazing stay at Last Word Kitara. The room was magnificent, the food exceptional, and the service outstanding. Every detail was taken care of. A truly memorable visit, highly recommended.
