Hogsback Arminel Hotel

The kitchen, bathrooms, sheets, and towels were clean, and the kitchen was well equipped apart from lacking a French press or coffee machine. But the downstairs suite, including its bedroom and bathroom, was so moldy it couldn’t be used. The carpet was filthy, and the rest of the house was only bearable with every window open. The place felt run down, and we saw just one other guest, for one night. There didn’t seem to be any staff besides a nice receptionist and a lone gardener, and there was no security. Anyone could press the gate button at any hour without a code. There also weren’t many recent reviews.

We stayed in one of the cottages at the Arminel Hotel, and it was one of the best stays of our lives. Spring was in the air, the apple blossom trees were beautiful, and the setting made the whole experience memorable. Natalie looked after us so well, welcoming and helpful throughout. We’d love to come back again and again.

It has so much potential, but management seems short-sighted and lacks hospitality experience. They don’t seem to understand that a business needs good service, good food, and a good night’s sleep, or how to turn things around. We shared a whole list of ideas with one of the duty managers, but he didn’t seem interested. This used to be a wonderful, well-run and well-maintained place, and it has gone downhill.

The wedding food was nicely prepared, and the vegetables weren’t overcooked. Our chalet was beautiful, as was the whole hotel grounds. Natalie, the manageress, was amazing, and every staff member was friendly. The bar lady was brilliant too. We had the privilege of attending a wedding at the Arminel Hotel this weekend, and it was a great experience. We’ll definitely be back. Natalie and the team, you guys rock!
