The staff were kind, and it wasn’t their fault they had to put this bed in front of guests. I confirmed they’d spoken to the owner, who they thought might buy a new mattress. We travelled a long way and were expected to sleep on two terrible mattresses pushed together in what they called the Honeymoon suite. They were lumpy, with broken springs, and we had to lie completely still or we wouldn’t sleep. I complained for the first two nights, then gave up. The owners should be ashamed. The mattress was so substandard it wouldn’t even be suitable for my dogs. This was a shocker, unlike anything we’ve experienced nationally or internationally. I won’t be tested there again.

I arrived late and was greeted by a wonderfully friendly lady. I still needed to drive out to get something to eat, but the chef offered to cook for me even at that hour. The reception was wonderful, and I’d really recommend the place. Thank you so, so much.

The bathroom mattress was dirty, and the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied after the previous guests. There wasn’t a guest towel for drying hands or a dish cloth in the kitchen, and the pillows were disgusting. The mattresses felt like sleeping on a gravel road. The boys ended up on the floor, and I folded the duvet so my sick husband could sleep on it. For luxury prices, this was very low-standard accommodation. Never again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

This was my second morning without any water, and I’d already had the same problem on my last visit in October. When I called reception, I was told the staff were waiting for the owners. You’d think they might have arranged another supply by now, given these regular burst pipe problems. The apology felt hollow, as if nobody really cared. There was no water to flush the toilet, shower, or brush my teeth, and no offer of a refund. Why charge the full room rate when the bathroom doesn’t work? The owners are never visible and haven’t sorted out the water issue. I’ll find somewhere else to stay.
