It was the service that really made the stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and after I left my credit card behind, they drove half an hour to the company where I was working to return it. Outstanding. I'll be back. I'm not a friend or relative of the owners, I just think praise is due where it's earned. The guest house had everything: tea and coffee, an iron, toiletries and wifi. My huge bedroom came with a large en suite bathroom and a separate lounge and kitchen. It's in a relatively safe suburb of Joannesburg, 20 minutes by cab from Sandton. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide choice of breads, fruit and cereal, plus a fully cooked option if you wanted it.

I needed to get some work done, and the internet was fast enough for international WebEx and voice calls without any trouble. Breakfast was delicious, especially the perfectly cooked mushrooms. It's a wonderful, cozy and safe place to stay in Jo'burg, a few blocks from the Mandela house and Rosebank Mall. In warm weather, I'm sure the pool is great, but sitting on the patio with tea was relaxing too.

Our family stayed at Avondhu for one month, and it felt like home. Zoe, Jemina and Natasha were a godsend and made the stay a pleasure. We'll definitely recommend this B&B. From Arivya, Sashika and Nishan.

Rosebank is busy, but this place stays quiet, which made it feel like a comfortable home away from home. Rosebank mall is about 2 km away, and getting to the highway or major bus routes is easy.

Some of the room fixtures need attention, like the roof fan, towels, and bedside lamp. When we needed help, staff couldn't sort things out without calling the owner. The manager was never around while we were there, or at least we didn't see her.
