For those of us who fish, the first hit from an elusive tiger fish leaves you stunned and weak at the knees. I can still feel it. We, Annette and Raj, both 66, stayed aboard Shayamanzi Houseboat from 26th to 28th February 2026, and it was an incredible trip. The food onboard could rival any international experience we’ve had. The rooms were well appointed, with huge sliding doors to take in the Vista, and the boat was delightfully neat. The toilets and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and serviced daily. The team had everything down to a fine art, from boarding through to disembarking. Most of all, they made us feel that we and our loved ones were the reason Shayamanzi exists. Special thanks to our affable host Sally, staffers Alan, Zakile and Sandile, and the Captain. They made it memorable. Thank you, Shayamanzi. I’ll be back at the drop of a hat.

The food was fresh and delicious, with care put into every meal, and the crew’s hospitality made the stay special. They were friendly, professional, and attentive without hovering. The houseboat was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end, beyond what we expected, and would happily do it again and recommend it.

The fishing was a real highlight for me. Catching tiger fish was on my bucket list, and we caught plenty. The tender boat staff know their stuff and kept putting us on fish. We also saw game, with staff who were very informative, and the views of Jozini Lake at sunrise and sunset were breathtaking and peaceful. The boat itself is magnificent, the food was a gourmet feast, and there was never any shortage. The welcoming staff were on point in every way. My first trip was two days, which wasn’t enough, so I came back for three. We made friends and memories with people from around the world that’ll stay with me for life. Thanks, Shayamanzi, for the hospitality and warm welcome. It was a pleasure, and I’ll certainly make a few more trips in future.

Watching game from my own cabin was such a unique experience, and I loved every second of it. We had a breathtaking weekend with a lovely group of people. The crew were quick to help, friendly, and very helpful. Good food and drinks too. Thank you.

The food was out of this world, and we were so well fed. Every meal came with a beautifully set table, and we even had a South African braai onboard. Beverage prices were a pleasant surprise, since we’d expected them to be exorbitant. The crew, Alan, Bheki, Anthony and Wiseman, were such a great team: friendly, well mannered, attentive, and knowledgeable. They made the whole experience. We were looked after from the moment we arrived for lunch at the Jozini Tiger Lodge, where we left our vehicle for the weekend. The Shayamanzi crew collected our luggage, and later we were transferred down to the jetty to board. By the time we got on, our bags were already in the cabin. The captain and crew welcomed us warmly with a glass of bubbly.
