AfricaSky Guest House

I was struck by how long many of the staff have been at Africa Sky Boutique Hotel, with some there for over ten years. The welcome felt warm, and the gardens are lovely. They light the boma fire each evening, even in summer. The reception also has a small shop with African art and crafts. I visited on a site inspection as an Africa travel and safari specialist. For late arrivals, the Kempton Park location is handy, about ten minutes from O.R. Tambo International Airport, and airport transfers can be arranged. It seems well suited to an overnight stop before heading on to safari or elsewhere in Southern Africa. The room was tastefully decorated, with a spacious bathtub that felt especially good after a long day on the road. Dinner is available at the hotel, so there was no need to go elsewhere. I had well-cooked lamb chops with vegetables and potatoes, then lemon cheesecake. Breakfast was just as good, with eggs made how I like them and plenty of sides. The dining room lets you have a chat with other guests or sit quietly on your own. Thanks to Prudence for checking me in, Dawn for checking me out, and the dining staff for making the meals so enjoyable. Owner Leoni has created a welcoming place. I recommend considering Africa Sky Boutique Hotel if you want a family-run stay near the airport before continuing your African trip.
