Witwater Guest House & Spa

A pleasant change from the big hotels near the airport. I was only there one night for a business trip, and found this small, private boutique hotel and spa a nice option. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was good.

The location worked especially well for us as international visitors: Witwater Lodge is a short drive from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, so we could settle in without a long trip. Once on the grounds, though, we felt far from the city. The gardens were beautifully kept, and the pool area and quiet surroundings made it easy to forget how near an urban centre we were. Our family of eight was welcomed warmly from the moment we arrived. Shepherd and his team were attentive without hovering, and their genuine care made us feel as if old friends were looking after us. They handled a last-minute request and checked in with friendly smiles, which made us feel seen and cared for. We loved the room. It felt both charming and luxurious, with an extremely comfortable bed and elegant but warm decor. The bathroom was huge, with a deep freestanding tub I could have stayed in much longer and a rainfall shower that felt like a spa treatment. Even the bath products added to that sense of indulgence. The meals were just as memorable. Every one was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with care. I've eaten at high-end restaurants around the world, and I can confidently say the food at Witwater is superb. They combine gourmet dishes with hearty, comforting flavours so well. Witwater Lodge gave us more than a luxury stay. The setting, thoughtful details, and personal hospitality made it a heartfelt experience we'll remember. We're already looking forward to coming back.

The style and quality felt consistently good throughout. The atmosphere was amazing, and the service was great too.

We came back to Witwater Guest House several times, and each stay we enjoyed the spotless rooms, generous meals, and excellent service. It worked perfectly for our Johannesburg stopovers, including our first night in Africa and the last one before we headed to the airport. They also have day trips and lovely spa treatments on offer, which I'd like to try next time.
