The sewerage smell was so strong as we came up the main driveway, and it was overwhelming again around our chalet. We couldn’t eat the braai food we’d wanted to make. We stayed for one night on 30 December 2025, and after telling reception about the smell, all we got was an apology. No one followed up after we left. There was just one fan in the whole unit, so we had to sleep with the window open to breathe. The smell felt worse than overheating in a hotbox. My daughter is from UK, and we were roadtripping through garden route. She was horrified by the smell and by how little the owners seemed to care about making things better or offering another fan. I’ll never go back. Worst stay of my life.

The cottages were spacious and kept neat and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was great for reasonable prices.

The location is great, and the rooms were fine, but our couch cushions had stains and the bathroom towels were dirty. The cleaning staff were friendly. The pub stayed closed the whole time we were there, so guests who wanted to use it couldn’t. The couch is also small and so hard that I can’t see anyone sleeping on it.

The kids liked the pool and games room, and it was only a short drive to the beach. We had a comfortable overnight stay.

Caitlyn greeted us and was really friendly and helpful. The pool area looked inviting, though the weather meant we couldn’t swim. The games room kept the kids entertained and got them out of the room. We just got back from a really nice stay at Goodson cottages, and we’ll definitely come back.
