The Knysna Belle

Michelle’s breakfasts made us feel at home, and the help with bookings and local recommendations made it easy to feel like we knew Knysna. My wife and I had a fantastic weekend at Knysna Belle. It was cold while we were there, but Gaby gave us such a warm welcome that we hardly minded.

The guest house feels comfortable and homey, and the free bikes, kayaks and canoes are a brilliant bonus. There’s a beach across the road where you can set off. I spent two hours on the water, going all the way around the island and into Knysna town, until my hands blistered. The water is shallow and, on a good day, seems safe to explore everywhere except beyond the wave break.

Michelle and Gabby made our two-night stay easy with their friendly, helpful welcome. We loved riding the free bikes and taking out the kayaks, and the breakfast overlooking the pool and manicured gardens was excellent. The guest house sits on Leisure Isle with views across the lagoon to the Heads. Inside, it’s modern, clean and comfortable, with a lovely room, a top-notch bathroom, and impressive shared spaces, especially the living room and deck. The weather was a bit unpredictable, but otherwise we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We’d happily recommend this place.
