We left after being woken by guests making noise and playing music, and I’m still waiting for the refund for that night. We had a meeting that day and needed rest, but the same guests were singing and clapping loudly. When we went to reception around 10am, the receptionist seemed unconcerned and was chatting on a video call. She only went to ask the boys to be quiet after we requested refunds for both nights. She took my bank details and said she could return R600 for the first night, with the other R600 on Monday when bookings.com paid them. Later, while we were on our way to the meeting, she called to ask what time the noise happened because her colleagues said they hadn’t heard it. They hadn’t been sleeping with us, and I was upset she asked that instead of apologizing for the poor service. We had to check out and find somewhere that understood the need to rest. The trouble started when we checked in on Thursday: the room we got wasn’t the one shown on bookings.com that I had paid for. We stayed in it anyway, then raised the issue the next day and were moved to Room 1. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We were on a business trip, three colleagues in all, and dinner orders were mixed up for two days in a row. There’s no dining hall, so meals are prepared elsewhere, which made ordering properly difficult. We also couldn’t get a meeting with the manager: she refused and blamed the receptionist. On our first day, she wouldn’t see us either, and I believe it was because we are black. The dinner had been ordered and brought to our rooms without our knowledge, and our complaints about that made the stay unbearable. We couldn’t even discuss it with her by phone because she refused to speak with us.

The room was clean and very quiet, but the booking response should have warned us that things might not be right. We’d booked a room with both a bath and shower and got only a bath. There was crockery and cutlery for one person, though we did have two mugs. Coffee and sugar weren’t enough for an evening and morning cup, and there was no milk, so we had to find a shop. The bathroom’s downlight and mirror light needed new bulbs, and there was no welcome pack or instructions.

After a long trip, this felt like an oasis. The staff welcomed us warmly, and the room was comfortable and really nice, with everything needed for a cozy stay. Thank you!
