The hosts were lovely, accommodating, and knew the area and its activities well. Their very friendly dog wanders around freely. The spacious cottage has two floors, amazing views, a nearby pool, and a fully equipped kitchen. There are two double beds and three singles, but only one bathroom. Two things to know: when we were there, payment was cash only. The access road is rocky, rough, and completely unlit. We made it in a small car by driving very slowly, though it may not suit everyone. We had a great stay.

The pool was the best part of our holiday stay, but the rest of the experience wasn’t so good. The owner lives on the property and watched us. We couldn’t even play music on New Year’s Day, though we didn’t play any on the other three days either. The beds weren’t comfortable, and I wouldn’t recommend booking at the Carraighs. It’s not close to the shopping malls or beach. You have to travel toward town, as the place is in the bush before you reach Plettenberg bay on the N2, not actually in Plettenberg bay. Just a heads-up for anyone looking at destinations. The owner only supplied two rolls of toilet paper, so we had to buy more. The place felt quite old-fashioned. At night, big ants came in under the door, and I had to put a rug there to keep them out. That’s my honest opinion of the place.

The spacious cottage had beautiful views and everything we needed for a great self-catering holiday. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area, or you can just relax and enjoy the heavenly atmosphere of a home away from home. Amazing accommodation.
