Trogon House and Forest spa

For our honeymoon, my husband and I had a couples massage in a beautiful, peaceful room. The two therapists were professional and made it easy to relax. The whole thing felt like a movie, set in the forest with breathtaking views. It was one of the best massages I’ve ever had, and a special experience we won’t forget.

We had a great massage, then spent time in the private spa with some good MCC and a platter of appetizers. The room, sauna and jacuzzi all look out over the forest, which gives the place a special feel. It was a grey day in September, so the fireplace added an extra touch. A hidden little wellness gem, with a welcoming room and options to stay overnight.

The highlight of our January 2024 trip through South Africa was staying at Trogon House and Forest Spa. We loved the pool, and sitting on the deck with a drink while looking into the jungle was so relaxing. The rooms are up in the treetops, and there are only a few guest rooms, so the personal service and immersion in the region’s flora and fauna felt unique. We’d love to do it again someday. We found the hotel behind the monkey land complex, and the parking lot signs there point the way. The road around monkey land is narrow, but we drove slowly and had no trouble in our basic rental car. The rooms have an unusual layout, without much separation between the sleeping area and bathroom, but that worked fine for us. We slept exceptionally well, perhaps thanks to the fresh jungle air and low light pollution. The whole staff made the service feel personal, and they took care of our needs, including vegan options for breakfast and dinner. We looked forward to the hotel’s multicourse dinners each day. We had a wonderful stay and can highly recommend Trogon House and Spa to friends, family, or anyone wanting a highlight along South Africa’s garden route.

Tucked away in the forest, this is a peaceful, magical place where the staff treated us like royalty. It’s secluded and immersed in nature, with delicious meals and spa treatments too. You come away feeling like a different person. I almost want to keep it secret, but it’s too good not to share.
