Eden Rose Manor

We were happy with our stay at Eden Rose. The rooms have old fashioned keys, and while the place looks a little dated, it didn’t spoil our visit. The gardens are lovely, and from the bathroom I could watch the birds in the morning. We also spotted our first South African monkey right beside the sign, which I loved. The owner was welcoming and friendly, and fascinating to chat with. We’d booked the wrong room by mistake, but they upgraded us to the one we wanted. It was clean and quiet. My dad found his bed comfortable; mine felt a bit hard to me, though I prefer softer beds. Breakfast was made to suit us: eggs, French toast, coffee, tea, juice, and yogurt. We had a nice chat with the other guests, too. I liked having dogs around because I love animals. We didn’t use the pool, though it looked very nice. There was a night security guard and cameras around the property, but we never felt unsafe. The only thing I really missed was having more outlets in the room.

The breakfast was first class, and after moving rooms we were very happy with our stay. The en suite room had a queen size bed and all the other amenities. We paid an extra R600 to upgrade to it after learning at check-in that not every room has an en suite bathroom. The booking page was vague about this, and it was unpleasant to discover so late. We’ll be back.

I felt welcome from the start, and the host helped me feel good about choosing this place for an overnight stay. My room was clean and had everything I needed. We discussed breakfast times, and I confirmed I’d be there early, which worked out well for me. Thank you.
