Room 1 was WOW, though it could use a new mattress. The place itself is beautiful, with stunning gardens and lovely antique furniture. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was delicious, and the manager was friendly and accommodating. Catherine was kind and helpful from the moment we checked in. The garden is beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff go the extra mile. I've stayed at other lodges in Ladysmith, but this is by far the best. The prices are good too.

The location is good, and the rooms are nice, with air-conditioning, WiFi and safe parking. I wouldn't add meals to the booking, though. The food wasn't very good, and since they cook in house, the menu doesn't change.

It's a nice, quiet spot with friendly staff, though I found it a bit overpriced. Breakfast is served very early and only for about an hour, with service ending at 8:30. The staff are very strict about it. If you're not a morning person, you may want to get takeaway instead.

I was totally disappointed. The room felt very outdated, and the bed was low with a very uncomfortable mattress. We booked for two but had only one set of towels on arrival, plus two very lumpy pillows, one each. The bar fridge wasn't switched on. The bathroom basin plugs don't work with the fancy lever taps, so you have to scratch underneath with your fingernails to lift the plug. The aircon is outdated too. After more than an hour it hadn't changed the room temperature, and its controls are outside the room, down a flight of stairs. I've stayed in much better places in Ladysmith for MUCH less.
