Lamberts Bay Hotel

The site is lovely, though the rooms have only been partly updated and still need some work. Front desk service wasn't great, and breakfast was quite limited. I can understand why the hotel might not want to spend more if traffic through the place doesn't justify it, though I'm not sure that's really the case.

Set in the quiet fishing area, the hotel gives you a modest taste of everyday life in Lambert’s Bay, with fish processing going on during the day. The ocean is close and the harbour views are beautiful. The place is kept tidy, and its many authentic historic pieces make for interesting discoveries as you settle in. Good value for money and a comfortable stay away from home.

The staff were very competent, helpful and friendly, and breakfast was hot and lovely. The shower had been revamped, but the carpet in the room was really dirty and needed a good clean. There was a small balcony used as a smoking area, with just a sliver of sea visible. The rooms are old and dated, though that fits the hotel's bygone glamour and original features. Don't expect anything modern or stylish. It's beside a police station and behind what used to be a fish factory at the harbour. A small Spar is within walking distance.

24 to 26 August 2025: The rooms, location, hotel staff and service were good, but the food section needs attention. Plates weren't warmed, so the food was half cold by the time it was served. We complained that the mutton was very tough, and the manageress replied, “old people can't chew!” That was completely out of line. She kept arguing back and forth during the conversation. I'm in total disbelief. Given the food quality as well, I strongly believe the manageress needs sincere training. Kind regards, Karin Stolpe.
