The villa smelled of mold, and there was damp damage on the walls. Several things were broken or unusable: the toilet wouldn't flush and was loose, the shower head didn't work, the hair dryer had an exposed cable, and the wall sockets didn't work. None of the lamps had bulbs. The place looks more like a government building than a hotel. It hasn't felt like a four-star hotel since it opened in 1977.

The room didn't look properly cleaned: foam marks stained the bathroom tap, which I had to wipe myself, and nails behind the bedside table were hard to miss when plugging in a device. Service was painfully slow throughout. We waited 40 minutes for breakfast even though ours was the only table being served, and there wasn't any jam for the toast. Dinner arrived cold, with some dishes turning up only after we'd finished. The staff need customer service training. This isn't four-star service.

We'd told them about a week ahead that our Grade 7 farewell group planned to swim, and the teachers had informed them too. But the pool hadn't been cleaned, so when we arrived they told us we couldn't swim. We'd brought our swimsuits and spent money on them for nothing. The food was cold and bad as well.

The food was on point, though breakfast should be kept warmer. The casino is medium-sized, and the swimming pool is huge. The place is still okay, but it looks like its best days are behind it. Some aesthetic work would help, like a fresh coat of paint and a deep clean for the carpets.

The room was the only good part of my stay. The restaurant menu looks appealing, but the food is subpar, and the so-called MooBar isn't operating. There isn't any guest entertainment apart from the casino. The website lists a fitness centre and tennis courts, but those aren't available. Guests also have to enter through the casino instead of the hotel's own entrance. The facility needs serious attention to detail.
