After the big storm the day before, the grounds staff worked hard raking leaves, and the pool was sparkling again in no time. You can see their years of experience in how proudly they keep the grounds. We came for a walk and lunch and, as always, had a superb time. Neo gave us a warm welcome, and Sheila and the terrace team looked after us well. The wraps were delicious, and everyone was so friendly. Well done, Valley Lodge team!

I regret staying at this hotel and would never recommend it. I'm still waiting for my overdue R8500 refund, despite repeated emails and promises that the matter had been escalated to Head Office and then the finance department. Those assurances have led nowhere. Now my emails are being ignored, and I have no reference number, proof that the refund was submitted, or payment date. They're still holding money that doesn't belong to them. It feels like deliberate stalling and stonewalling. Once they have your money, there seems to be no urgency, accountability or respect for the guest. The lack of transparency and basic professionalism is shocking for a hospitality business. If you value your time, money and peace of mind, don't book here.

The platter was generous, more than enough for two, and very nice. We went for a picnic and got amazing service from friendly staff, especially Neo and Happy. The monkeys provided great entertainment too. Next time I'll come earlier so I can enjoy it to the fullest.

The live entertainment was something I really enjoyed when I visited the restaurant for lunch on the 26th of December. The dining area, though, needs renovation. The old carpets leave an unpleasant lingering smell, there are cobwebs on the ceiling, and the furniture looks dated. Please consider removing the carpet, repainting and updating the furniture.

The food was brilliant, and the spa was good, though very expensive. For the best rooms in the hotel, you need to book Superior Rooms. The service and the stay overall were about as good as you could ask for. Brilliant hotel.
