Jock Safari Lodge

The meals were a highlight for us as vegans. One evening, the lodge surprised us with a lantern-lit dinner by the river and a fire. While the other guests had a meat-heavy BBQ, the kitchen made us warming soup, grilled pumpkin and flavorful vegetable curry with jeera rice. Breakfast came on a tiered high-tea stand with vegan sausages, pancakes and savory chickpea fritters. It was a thoughtful spread. The private thatched suites are lovely, with outdoor showers, plunge pools and salas, outdoor daybeds perfect for a nap after a drive. The place has a romantic, storybook feel, tucked into dense riverside vegetation at the meeting of two rivers. It feels like a secret hideaway, earthier and more soulful than some formal lodges. We tracked a beautiful leopard through golden evening light with our guide, Mainard, and saw a hyena nursing three tiny dark brown cubs on the road. A great spot for feeling immersed in the bush while keeping the luxury.

Three days felt just right, especially with the wonderful safari tours. The accommodation met all our expectations, and the staff were always attentive and did their best to keep guests comfortable. I truly enjoyed my stay. Thank you 🙏

There was plenty of time to relax between adventures, and the food was amazing. Jan was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable and passionate about his work. An incredible stay, and I highly recommend it.

Our ranger Ike was the highlight. He was incredible, and we saw the Big Five and much more. Jock Safari Lodge exceeded our expectations across the board. We stayed three nights in this special, intimate place with only 24 guests. The rooms were beautiful, with an outdoor bath and an outdoor afternoon bed. Meals were absolutely delicious, and the staff were lovely, attentive and amazing. I can’t recommend it enough.
