Khandizwe River Lodge

Watching the river and KNP from just 30 metres away kept us busy for hours. We saw bushbuck come into the garden within two metres of us, elephants grazing five metres away, hippos below, and plenty of birds and bush sounds. Lions even chased impala across the river. The garden and pool made a wonderful setting, and the Lapa area was great for barbecues and braais. Communication from the owner was good. One thing to know, though, is that a domestic helper came into the house in the morning without announcing herself first. As returning expats with high expectations from years spent in KNP and nearby reserves, we were thrilled to find Khandiswe. The buildings are well equipped and tastefully furnished, with touches of Africana throughout. The thatch roof gives it a bush feel and smell, while air conditioning throughout offered relief from the heat. The living areas are plush, spacious, and indulgent. For night-time wildlife viewing, bring a powerful torch. You'll also want mosquito spray and room spray for the occasional creepy-crawly. We found the town centre a bit dodgy. Day trips into KNP were easy and rewarding, while the river gave us a 24/7 wildlife view right from the accommodation. It was more comfortable and luxurious than anything inside KNP. An amazing stay, and we'll be back.

We were lucky enough to have elephants right outside the door at this peaceful, tidy villa. The views were exceptional, and the flora and fauna were breathtaking. Peter was accommodating and great to deal with, and Rose, the caretaker, was wonderful too. Highly recommend this place.

Mme Rose was so helpful and made our weekend stay easier. The villa is a lovely gem, with breathtaking views over the Crocodile River and Kruger National Park just across the way. We enjoyed watching wildlife come to drink on the opposite bank. It's close to most amenities and only a 10-minute drive from Kruger. I can't wait to visit again.

My family had a fantastic time at this hidden gem. The house was huge and clean, and we loved the views of Kruger National Park. Wildlife was right on our doorstep, including an elephant that came to graze in the backyard every day. We loved him! Lushikuz🥰
