Kruger View Chalets

There's a good restaurant, a pool, and sometimes live music. Young children have a nice playground and open space to play. The resort overlooks the Crocodile River toward Kruger Park, and it's a short drive from the Malelane gate.

Wildlife is easy to spot across the river, and the pool is immaculate. The place feels close to nature while still feeling safe, and it's near the Malelane entrance. At an affordable price, you get the essentials plus extras like air conditioning in every room. The two-bedroom units are brick, thatch-roofed houses overlooking Kruger across the Crocodile River; the one-bedroom units are wooden structures on stilts set quite a bit farther back. Service staff make the beds, clean the floors, and do the dishes daily between 9 and 11. One small issue was that motion-activated lights along the gravel road sometimes shone through the curtains, making the rooms a little bright at night. It wasn't a big deal.

The place was extremely clean, but that bed was so hard it felt like I was lying on the ground. I swear sleeping on the floor might have been more comfortable, lol.

The chalets are quite nice, and the view of the river from the back is lovely. A few things made the stay less comfortable, though. The parking lot is pitch black, so you'll need a flashlight if arriving late or leaving early. The security gate never closes, meaning anyone can come onto the property, and there was no other security. There's no safe in the room, and you have to ask reception for a hair dryer. Reception is unstaffed from 8 pm to 7 am. Bring bug spray, since I went through a whole can in four days despite the clean rooms. The air conditioning also felt a little weak on hotter days.
