The setting won me over, with a sea view from every part of the unit and a beach gate for walks or fishing. Shops, doctors, places to eat, and swimming beaches are all nearby, and the pool, comfy sofa, TV, and well-equipped kitchen made the stay easier. The team was friendly and quick to help, especially when we needed the gate fixed. I’d come back, though there were plenty of frustrations during our week. The biggest worry was security. The unit next door was robbed at night, and the outside lights go out during loadshedding. With stage 6 outages and humidity over 80%, we couldn’t sleep with the windows or doors open, and the nights were rough. Parking was also a hassle: the spaces are small, unmarked, and tough with a bakkie or large SUV. When we arrived, another unit had both spots taken up with a car, bike, and trailer, so we had to sort it out ourselves. There’s no inventory list either, so it’s hard to know what you’re being held responsible for. Some upkeep is needed. There’s rust around things like the pool rails. Maintenance work during our stay meant pounding on the walls and paint fumes, until we asked them to stop. The Wi-Fi let us log in, but never had internet access. Riptide beach restaurant is described as a comfortable walk away, but it’s surrounded by ocean and can’t be reached on foot. Driving there is about 6.2 km. Still, the pool looked great and was refreshing after a day out, and the outdoor table, chairs, and small braai were nice to have. For all the problems, yes, I would stay again.
