Had an amazing, restful winter break at Sanlameer and will definitely go again. It's so well kept and safe, which is a joy. The area is amazing, and there's lots for children to do too. Loved the spa, hotel services, clubhouse, and beach.

The villa was spotless, the kitchen was a dream to use, and the infinity pool was well maintained. Even small touches like complimentary healthy breakfast cereal on arrival stood out. Everything about this deluxe villa was extraordinary, starting with the friendly reception staff. I'd definitely book it again.
The price we paid didn't feel justified by the experience. We had told the resort well in advance that we were hosting a family reunion, but were told there was no communal space on the premises for us. We kept going to the Estuary and Wild Coast Sun, and often had no option but to gather in a villa, which brought neighbour complaints before 10 pm. The private villa booking system and policies need updating too. Several family members were rebooked, causing needless stress and confusion. The property has potential, but golf carts were consistently unavailable. That made getting around very difficult, especially in the weather. They need more carts, or international guests should be told in advance that they run out. Ideally, each Luxury villa booking would include one. It rained throughout our stay, but there weren't alternative activities available, and kayaking wasn't possible. The WiFi was extremely poor, a major issue for international guests who depend on a stable connection. The TV in our Luxury villa was small, poor quality, off-centre in the room, and didn't have smart functions. That's such an inexpensive substitution?!
The villas were well equipped, and having a Spar supermarket on site was very convenient. I also liked the facial recognition system for coming and going, and the air conditioning was a real comfort. It was a fairly satisfying stay. The resort is so large that internal roads need streetlights throughout, including under the car ports. Street names would make it easier to find your way without constantly checking the map for family members' villas. Sidewalks would help pedestrians and joggers too.
Warm, humid weather, kind and helpful staff, and lots of nature make San Lameer one of my favourite places on the Natal Coast. About 60% of the estate is natural dune forest, beach, and lakes. For a solo traveller or a family with children, the estate's 100% safety aspect is a total must for travel in South Africa.
