Kruger Inn Backpackers

Alison and Cor were genuinely kind and hospitable, and I had an amazing stay at the Kruger Inn. They know so much about the park and its animals. I learned more from them than from any safari guides! The location is ideal, with Crocodile Bridge gate nearby, shops close by, and beautiful Marloth Park all around you.

The location was really convenient, not far from one of Marloth Park’s entrances. I arrived late, but the host still greeted me so warmly. The room was cozy, clean and tidy, with its own bathroom. It has that backpackers feel people mentioned, just a bit more upmarket. I didn’t get to try the shared kitchen or pool this time, so I’ll have to come back.

The animals around the place were a real highlight: genets, warthogs, kudus, giraffes, impalas and plenty more. The host was wonderful, genuinely kind, funny, and full of knowledge about the wildlife. The accommodation is simple, but it has charm and the things we needed, including a kitchen, a place to relax, hot water and clean rooms. We even had electricity during load shedding. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay. After five weeks travelling around South Africa, this was our favourite place, and I’m sure we’ll return one day.

We came with our almost-grown kids, who shared the bunk room, and the setup worked perfectly for us. It has a backpackers feel, with a basic shared kitchen and a comfortable covered outdoor area for eating and relaxing. Everything was clean and tidy.
